EVERYDAY ELEVATED - SPRING 2024

We believe in clean, clear architectural expressions that feel effortless, so that the richness of everyday life becomes evident.  We feel that spaces are enlivened by the people who live within, and by the changing of seasons and patina of time.  As Spring bursts onto the scene, we are reminded of how our innovative design approach and intensive client collaboration result in unique and memorable spaces.

LIVING LARGE — THE PIEDMONT RESIDENCE

We applied our design philosophies in a recent Piedmont project, where the main living area of an historic estate serves the needs of a large extended family practically and aesthetically. Converting several small, disconnected rooms to one large open great room, the new kitchen, dining area and sitting area are soaked in natural light and open to the city view beyond. A new terrace with a heated gathering space and doors that disappear provide a casual and comfortable setting for family activities. The refined modern style reflects the scale and elegance of the traditional home with a selection of timeless materials, stately light fixtures and carefully considered details.

The Eames Institute recently unveiled its new Richmond headquarters and opened their archives to the public.  We know how influential the work of Charles and Ray Eames has been to designers around the world - we covet their iconic products and are looking forward to visiting soon.  The institute also has a Ranch in Sonoma County that highlights Charles and Ray and their ideas on the important inspiration that nature provides.

MARIN RENOVATION

Our recent Marin Country project received some more attention in February when it was highlighted in the Modern Luxury portion of San Francisco Magazine.  This project is near and dear to our hearts because it represents how a house can be transformed when the architecture, interiors and landscape are conceived in tandem to create harmony between life and home.  Written by Michael McCarthy and photographed by Bess Friday.
